oshe@ihug.co.nzLife brings many changes and December 23rd 2008 was one of those changes. On that day we celebrated our our marriage in a beautiful ceremony in front of our family and friends and the Saints. It was beautiful and has changed so many things in my life already.
Liam crowned Obatala and Yemaya walks with him. Maferefun Obatala, Maferefun Yemaya, and marked to Ifa. In 2004 just before he came home from the states, his padrino, a Babalawo from Florida explained a section of his ita to bring the florishing traditions of Santeria to the shores of our beloved New Zealand. Ocha certainly knows how to test us because oh, it has been difficult at times, but the rewards are great and our communities continue to grown and flourish, if somewhat slowly. His mother is crowned Yemaya Assesu and Ocha is strong in our family, even Ali is coming closer to Ocha, and is marked Ochun Alo-Loddi.
Liam was a Registered Nursein the US for a few years, loved getting the opportunity to meet with many Santeros in our community in New York and Florida and back and forwards to Cuba as well. Cuba is a place that he can not imagine not visiting and we look forward to going back there every chance we get. Alistair is desperate to see Cuba and the religion alive there and Liam is looking forward to sharing that with him as soon as we both get some time. That said, it was good to come home and be with Family again.
Onto the more mundane, Liam work in the government, for New Zealand's largest Ministry in a job that gives him the chance to help people, bring some peace, empathy and compassion and share the gifts that Obatala has brought to him to share. It is challenging and rewarding and although very very busy, it's worth every minute!
Alistair is an audiologist, and amazing at his job, he has such great compassion and empathy with the dear oldies that he does great things. He's intelligent, dedicated and likes what he does which changes the work experience over those who don't really like what they do for a living!
We have 2 little Shih Tzu puppies, Tenzin Tobesocuteisacrimr "Toby" and Denem Diamonds Are Forever "Cartier". We're looking forward to showing Cartier from March and then hopefully finding the perfect stud and doing some breading as well. Shih Tzu are just such a pleasure to share you life with, the perfect companions and I'm sure there'll be lots of references to their role in our family in our journal.
So there we have it, us in a nut shell. We're looking forward to making new friends, learning, growing and of course sharing the journey, so hit us up, come sit on the deck [our beautiful large deck] and chew the cud a while.
Alafia.
